ThermoBatch Effluent Decontamination System

Overview
The ThermoBatch™ Effluent Decontamination System (EDS) Progressive Recovery Inc. (PRI) sterilizes biologically active wastewater in BSL-2, BSL-3, BSL-3 AG, BSL-3 Enhanced, and BSL-4 research labs prior to discharge. The system accepts solid and liquid waste from all the lab drains into thermal reactor vessels where a heat cycle raises the liquid to a pre-determined temperature, maintains it at that temperature for a given period. It then automatically insures "proof of process", assuring your employees, officials, and the public that all possible steps are being taken to protect their safety and the environment.

Process
Reaching the desired 10-6 probability of a Possible Non-Sterile Unit (PNSU) is achieved by uniting the variables of elevated temperature with a desirable time duration.

General Description
One or more ThermoBatch Thermal Reactors alternate in fill, treatment and standby cycles assuring there is always operating capacity. Standard systems range from 250 to 125,000 gallons per day operating capacity and special designs can accommodate any practical size requirement.

The operator interface is easy to use with graphic displays that show all aspects of the process and programmable logic controllers monitor and automatically control the entire process. If any operating parameter falls out of normal operating range, appropriate alarms are given and a safe shutdown of the system will occur. In the case of a mechanical failure, valves automatically isolate each of the modules for sterilization. Effluent from the system is cooled to 140 °F or below for disposal to the sewer.

Batch Report
PRI's technology provides "Proof of Process" to assure everyone that all possible steps are being taken to protect their safety and the environment.

The Batch Report includes:
Batch number, date, and time
Load volume
Graph of the process' pressure, temperature, and time
Pass-Fail indication
The system software automatically prints a report of the process and creates a PDF file.

Batch Reports are an exclusive feature of PRI.

Quality Assurance
PRI provides single source responsibility for the engineering design, manufacturing, testing and field implementation of the system. All systems are completely assembled in our shop where Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) takes place. This allows the client to see the system operate and challenge the system with any unique operational needs that will occur at the facility.

When it is time to start the unit in the field, a PRI Engineer will verify the installation, check the system integrity, validate the operational modes, run a series of checks, and provide training for the facility's maintenance crew and operators.
